Emery's (1878b) description is at - {original description}. TL 4.7-7.5 mm. Forel's (1886e) description of creticus is at . Santschi (1921b) noted ponariensis as TL 5-8.5 mm; differing from the type by being the pale red-brown base to the scape, tibiae and tarsis; mandibles brown, the rest black; head as matt as creticus.
