Camponotus (Myrmamblys) klugii Emery

return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location South Africa (Camponotus Bedoti Emery, var. Klugii n. var., Emery, 1895h: 51, minor worker; raised to species Emery, 1925b: 121; from whence the placement in Myrmamblys, 5th Group simus) Cape Town, Simon; worker only described (see Bolton, 1995) .

{Camponotus (Myrmamblys) bedoti}Emery's (1895h) description is at {original description}. Arnold (1924: 699) gave a translation and notes on bedoti (from Borneo, Malaysia); these are at {original description}.
The bedoti description is at - Emery, C. 1893e. Voyage de MM. Bedot et Pictet dans l'Archipel Malais. Formicides de l'Archipel Malais. Rev. Suisse Zool. 1, 187-229 - {original description}.

{Camponotus klugii minor}The photomontage of the  type minor worker is collated from http://www.antweb.org/specimen.do?name=casent0905451

The propodeum profile is quite different from the other African Myrmamblys. If my diagnosis is correct, it appears similar, probably not identical, to the worker of Camponotus (Myrmosaga) mombassae.

See C. bedoti at http://www.antweb.org/specimenImages.do?code=casent0905458
