Cardiocondyla neferka Bolton

- Seifert Key Type location Ghana (Bolton, 1982: 314, illustrated, worker); holotype and 3 other workers, from Mampong (P.M. Room, 10.ii.1970). .

TL 1.80-1.81 mm; light brownish yellow; sides of first gastral tergite a rich darker brown.

A single specimen was collected from primary forest leaf litter at Mankrang Forest Reserve, Ghana (Belshaw & Bolton, 1994b). Cardiocondyla species A124 was listed by Room (1971) from open ground at the Mamfe-Mampong cocoa farm in Ghana - presumably, by extrapolation, together with comments in Belshaw & Bolton (1994b), that was neferka.

Workers from Nko'emvon, Cameroun (D.A. Jackson) were seen by Bolton (1982).

Seifert (2003) reports examining a worker specimen from Nigeria, Gambari (CRIN), dated 10.vi.1969; however, he lists a worker of Cardiocondyla emeryi with the same location and date, i.e. from the era of Bolton's stay at CRIN, and one has to wonder how, if Seifert was correct, Bolton missed separating it.
