armenus (C.
albicans armena K. Arn.
ssp. n., Arnol'di, 1964: 1808, illustrated, all forms; synonymy
Radchenko, 1997e: 425) from Armenia. |
Arnol'di's (1964) description of armenus
is at .

The
photomontage of a paratype worker of armenus
is collated from http://www.antweb.org/specimen.do?name=casent0903292.
Note - the scales on the Antweb images match across the three views and
indicate that the scale on Arnol'di's drawing of the lateral alitrunk
of a worker is wrong, AL = 0.64 v Antweb AL = 2.0 mm. Arnol'di gave the
TL as 5.3-6.8 mm.
The distinctive colouration and pubescence strongly
suggests that
this is a separate species from the North African and Iberian type form
and most of the other subspecies.
|
Colour
adjusted version of the above Antweb image; as with almost all Antweb
images there appears to be an over emphasis on the magenta tint.
