Cataglyphis protuberatus Crawley

Iran list Type location Iran (Cataglyphis bicolor F, var. protuberatus var. nov., Crawley, 1920b: 177, worker; raised to species, C. protuberatus, as = C. isis Forel by Radchenko, 1998: in key) Amara, 1918, Evans; see below.

On balance, however, the head shape in full face view (squarer with an apparent indentation on the clypeal margin), the petiole shape being narrower in profile and the geographical distribution combine to suggest that, although seemingly related, C. protuberatus and C. isis from Egypt are separtae species.
