Cerapachys nitidulus Brown

return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type locality Zaïre (Cerapachys (Parasyscia) nitida new species, Weber, 1949a: 2, illustrated, worker & queen; renamed Brown, 1975: 23; see Bolton, 1995) collected at 10 miles east of Stanleyville, Belgian Congo, 17.iii.1948, by N A Weber - no type images on Antweb (March 2015) .

{Cerapachys nitidulus} {Cerapachys nitidulus}Weber's (1949a) description is at {original description}.

Brown (1975: 24) listed this as the only African form with 11-segmented antennae, as stated by Weber (1949a) but Weber's own (1942a) description of Cerapachys sudanensis appears to suggest that also has 11-segmented antennae. Specimens of sudanensis I have seen show this quite clearly

Described as widespread in Ghana, by Belshaw & Bolton (1994b) from leaf litter samples, 299 workers, and soil samples, 134 workers, from the semi-deciduous forest zone.
