Crematogaster (Crematogaster) homeri Forel

return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location Cameroun (Cremastogaster (Atopogyne) homeri, Forel, 1913e: 668, queen) from Johann-Albrechtschöhe, by Conradt; queen only described (see Bolton, 1995) .

Forel's (1913e) description is at {original description}. Note - Forel stated that workers identifiable as chlorotica bore the same label (collection details) and, hence, this could be the queen of that species. However, Crematogaster chlorotica since has been classifed as in Sphaerocrema.

{Crematogaster homeri queen} The photomontage of the type queen is collated from http://www.antweb.org/specimen.do?name=casent0912680

Crematogaster homeri ? worker The photomontage is of a worker from Cameroun; from Awae II, 3°53'60"N 10°46'60"E; lowland area elevation <250m; quadrat in fallow; 17.vii.2007 (fk sp 19); coll. A Fotso Kuate

I have associated this with the described queen of homeri because it is unlike any other subgenus member. The head is smooth and shiny as with the homeri queen; yellowish-red to brown with the posterior gaster darker.
