Crematogaster (Crematogaster) junodi Forel - new status

return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location South Africa (Crematogaster censor For. r. junodi n. stirps, Forel, 1916: 406) from Shilowana, Transvaaln collector Junod.
Worker only described .

Forel's (1916) description is at {original description}.

Although similar in form to censor and sharing some of the matt appearance due to fine spiculation, this has more extensive sculpturation especially on the front of the head and the clypeus but has a shiny gaster. This type specimen is larger than that of censor but the censor type is right at the bottom of the size range given by Forel.

{Crematogaster junodi} The photomontage of the type worker is collated from http://www.antweb.org/specimen.do?name=casent0908512
