Santschi's (1917d) description is on {original description}. Kuznetsov-Ugamsky's (1929c) illustrated description is on {original description} . Pisarski (1967: 410) listed "Acantholepis karawaiewi Santschi, 1917 stat. nov." from locations in Afghanistan.

{Lepisiota karawaiewi}Agosti & Collingwood (1987a: 56) listed it as expected from the Balkan peninsula, separating it in a key (1987b: 280) as being mainly dark, the alitrunk and head closely sculptured giving a near matt appearance.
