Monomorium alamarum Bolton

return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location Namibia (Bolton, 1987: 367, illustrated, worker); worker only described (see Bolton, 1995) .

{Monomorium alamarum}Bolton's description (1987) is at {original description}.

WORKER - TL 2.0-2.4 mm.

Note: the drawing and the type specimen shown below differ, particularly in the total absence of hairs on the underside of the head.  The photgraphed specimen, however, appears to match Bolton's description, where he states there is a "lack of standing pilosity on head, alitrunk, and the first gastral tergite in front of the apical row".
