Arnold (1916) gave a fuller description plus that of the queen, this is at {original description}; it was under the name australe, a mistake corrected by Arnold (1926: 229) - see {original description} Arnold (1944) raised it to a full species, this is at {original description} Bolton's modern description (1987) is at {original description}.

WORKER - TL 3.1-3.7 mm (Bolton, 1987: 352, not illustrated).
