Monomorium tanysum Bolton

return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location Ghana (Bolton, 1987: 416, not illustrated) collected at Mampong by P.M. Room, 17.xi.1969, holotype and one paratype worker . Later found, two workers, in primary forest leaf litter at Mankrang Forest Reserve, by Belshaw & Bolton (1994b) .

Bolton's description (1987) is at {original description}. WORKER - TL 1.5 mm; with shallow but broad metanotal groove, with strong cross-ribs; colour brown, gaster darker to blackish-brown (Bolton, 1987).
