Oligomyrmex (Oligomyrmex) species E

Nigeria specimens (Taylor, 1980a: 37)

Major - return to key Minor - return to key.

Major - TL 1.56 mm, HL 0.57, HW 0.47, SL 0.28, PW 0.23; head and alitrunk finely rugoreticulate, rugae discontinuous. Eye minute and far forward. Antennae 9-segmented. Erect hairs fine, fairly long and moderately abundant. Metanotal groove deep; propodeum rising vertically to a flat slightly down-sloping dorsal surface; triangular spines at the top of the flanged posterior margin. Colour yellow-brown.

Minor - not drawn, TL 0.98 mm; similarly sculptured but loosely reticulate on the head.

Found in an old cocoa pod on the ground at the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria, Idi Ayunre, by B. Bolton.
