The Ants of Africa
Genus Oligomyrmex
Oligomyrmex (Aeromyrma) ugandanus (Santschi)

Oligomyrmex (Aeromyrma) ugandanus (Santschi)

Minor - return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location Uganda (Aeromyrma ugandana n. sp., Santschi, 1923e, minor not queen, printing error) Kampala, H Hargreaves
Minor only described (see Bolton, 1995) - BUT see below .

Santschi's (1923e) description is at {original description}.

NOTE - Weber (1952) included this in his key to Aeromyrma minors and, given the small size, i.e. TL 1.5 mm, and lack of ocelli, etc., noted by Santschi (1923e) it seems obvious that the original description was a minor worker (the Oligomyrmex perpusillus queen, is TL 3.8 mm), with the symbol for a female misprinted instead of that for a minor.

{Oligomyrmex ugandanus minor}The photomontage of the type minor worker is collated from http://www.antweb.org/specimen.do?name=casent0913525.
