queen only known (see Bolton, 1995). Note: Arnold (1922: 581) regarded this as a synonym of Lepisiota capensis (as Acantholepis) .

From the label it may be what Emery (1877b: 366) described as the queen of Lepisiota capensis although Emery gave the length as 5 mm (this assuming the Antweb scale is correct is TL ca 6 mm). The overall appearance of this does not look much like the L. capensis type worker.
