return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location Tanzania (Platythyrea Viehmeyeri n. sp., Santschi, 1914a: 429, worker) Khuta Steppe, K Schwartze - see below
worker only described (see Bolton, 1995) .

Santschi's (1914a) description is at {original description}.

Considered by Brown (1975: 45) as possibly the same as arnoldi but he did not see a specimen of viehmeyeri and, so, could not reach a firm conclusion.

{Platythyrea viehmeyeri}The photomontage of the type worker is collated from http://www.antweb.org/specimen.do?name=focol0502.

This is almost identical to P. arnoldi just fractionally larger.
