Type location Ivory Coast (Smithistruma fulda sp. n., Bolton, 1983: 282, illustrated, full-face view, worker), from Issoneu, collected by V. Mahnert & J.-L. Perret, 12.x.1980; holotype worker only known .

WORKER - TL 2.0 mm; 4-segmented antennae; recognisable by massive angular extension of the antennal scape, plus shape and pilosity of clypeus; colour dark brown to blackish-brown, appendages lighter.

Two workers were collected in Ghana from leaf litter under primary forest at Sui Forest Reserve in the semi-deciduous forest zone, by Belshaw & Bolton (1994b).
