Tetramorium notiale Bolton (Arnold)

return to group key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location Zimbabwe (Tetramorium guineense ssp striatum, Arnold, 1917: 308, all forms - appears as a translation of T. guineense r striatum attributed to Stitz, 1910: 144 but that is a short description of T. guineense v cristatum, Arnold's description, see below, is quite long and detailed, comparing the ants to the guineensis var phasias (see lower); raised to species, with replacement name by Bolton, 1980)
all forms described .

Note: With the availability of type images now (April 2015) this, or at least the Bolton "lectotype", appears to be identical to the prior published Tetramorium cristatum, if so this is a junior synonym.
