Tetramorium youngi Bolton

return to group key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location Angola (Bolton, 1980: 284, not illustrated, worker), described from a single holotype worker. He placed it in the setigerum-group and thought it had no close relatives west of Zaïre .

WORKER - TL 3.4 mm; long scapes and long frontal carinae; very long propodeal spines, narrow, acute and down-turned; petiole node high and narrow in profile. Colour head and body glossy blackish-brown, appendages pale yellow.

Since found at Atewa Forest Reserve, Ghana, 7 workers, in leaf litter by Belshaw & Bolton (1994b).
