Acropyga silvestrii Emery

return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location Eritrea (Acropyga silvestrii n., Emery, 1915g: 21, worker, illustrated) Ghinda
worker only described (see Bolton, 1995, location given as Ethiopia) .

{Acropyga silvestrii}Emery's (1915g) description is at {original description}.

From Santschi's (1926b) description of arnoldi, it seems this has a longer head, noticeably longer than wide; the petiole is lower and thicker.

Acropyga silvestrii
The photomontage of a worker is collated from http://www.antweb.org/specimen.do?name=casent0178254. From Kenya. The head shape differs from the type description but the size is of the right order and the location close to the original, so it seems reasonable to identify this as A. silvestrii.
