Aenictus buttgenbachi Forel

Type location Zaïre (Aenictus Buttgenbachi n. sp., Forel, 1913b: 313) from Valley of the Lumbumbashi, by Buttgenbach; male only described (see Bolton, 1995) .

Wheeler (1922) records it also from Tanzania - citing Santschi (1914b: 68), but that had no descriptions other than noting the male was slightly shorter, TL 8.5 mm, and the wings 8.7 mm, with a blueish reflection, a single worker was noted.
