Atopomyrmex calpocalycola Snelling

McKey, 26.xi.1989); holotype and 26 paratype workers from internodes of the plant Calpocalyx species (Snelling, 1992a) .

WORKER - TL 3.88-7.03 mm; variations considerable from other two species and given above; also head distinctly longer than broad in all sizes, and with fully erect hairs on the mesonotal dorsum, plus abundant appressed pubescence, especially on gastral tergites; sculpturation on front of head of very fine close striae and sparse fine punctures; colour very dark reddish-brown, clypeus and adjacent areas of face lighter.

Snelling described the antenna as having a 7-segmented funiculus (flagellum) "without differentiated apical club". The worker shown below has a quite distinct club.
