Camponotus (Tanaemyrmex) immigrans Santschi

return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location Cameroun (Camponotus (Myrmotrix) immigrans n. sp., Santschi, 1914a: 436, all forms described) collected at Molundu, by D A Reichensperger; all forms described (see Bolton, 1995) .

Santschi's (1914a) description is at {original description}. Four workers, one queen and one male; which Santschi speculated was an importation from America, as it seemed to be a close relative of Camponotus atriceps - as C. abdominalis, type location Central America. Molundu, however, is a very long way from the sea which suggests it is not an immigrant.
