Mayr's (1862) description of the queen is at {original description}. Mayr (1904a: 596) compared various Carebara - sicheli, C. lignata from Java and C. vidua; this is at {original description}.

Wheeler (1922) also recorded it from Benin (Upper Dahomey) and Sudan - in Mayr (1862) as "White Nile". TL maximum 15 mm, body covered with short hairs, clypeus coarsely punctate, dark brown (Wheeler, 1922)
