This specimen appears to be among those listed as examined
under C. angolensis by Bolton & Fisher (2008: 15). Assuming
the scales on the originals from Antweb are correct, this is
considerably larger than the range given for angolensis. The
mandibles also are quite different. Bolton & Fisher gave -
"masticatory margin ... with 7-10 small low indistinct teeth, reduced
to mere crenulations or even more or less smooth in the proximal half
when worn". This has 5-6 spaced out but well developed teeth. The angolensis
mandible has "the basal angle rounded ... sometimes with a vestigial
tooth"; here the basal angle has a distinct tooth giving a sharp angle.
Overall this has longer narrower mandibles, with much more distinct
punctures. This has the scapes distinctly surpassing the occiput.
