Crematogaster (Crematogaster) ilgii Forel

return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server}Type location Ethiopia (Cremastogaster scrutans n. sp. var. ilgii n. var., Forel, 1910c: 259, worker; raised to species Santschi, 1916b: 502)
junior synonym (here) lacustris (Cremastogaster excisa stirps lacustris nov., Santschi, 1914b: 99, worker) from Tanzania, Lusinga Island, Lake Victoria, x.1903 - see below

Worker only described (see Bolton, 1995) .

Forel's (1910c) description of ilgii as a var of scrutans is at {original description}. Arnold (1920a: 519) gave a translation as a variety of scrutans (itself now a subspecies of alulai), this is at {original description}; he reported it from Zoutpansberg in South Africa but I surmise that was more likely to be the smaller excisa or one of its close relatives.
Santschi's (1914b) description of lacustris is at {original description}.
