Forel's (1907a) description is at .
This description is typical of Forel's refusal to denote
species, preferring to designate new subspecies or varieties. Here he
wrote of - "TL 2.7-3 mm; differs from the type [gallicola] by
the propodeal spines being as long as more than half the distance
between their bases; by the deep median notch dividing the postpetiole
entirely in two; and, a much stronger sculpturation, very fine and
dense strations on the head and alitrunk and across the occiput,
sculpture which gives the insect a silky appearance, the pedicel nodes
also are subopaque. Some individuals from Arusha-Chini have the
mesonotum with raised lateral tuberculiforme sections
posteriorly with slight concavity between them"; from Moshi near the
River Rau & Arusha-Chini, collector Katona.
The type and fresh specimen below are smaller and darker than Crematogaster gallicola.
