The
photomontage is of a major
specimen from Sudan,
collected by J Mathews, by pyrethrum fogging of Senegalia senegal
(formerly Acacia senegal);
Kordofan, El Ain, near El Obeid, ca 12°56' N 30°35' E, JM 072,
23.x.2000, 3
workers (selected as representative of the polymorphism) plus very many
unmounted; also JM 040, 2 workers, 18.x.2000; JM 078, 6 workers plus ca
80
unmounted, 24.x.2000; and, JM 091, 25.x.2000, 1 worker plus 13
unmounted. Note almost all the workers seemed to be covered in a flaky
material,
possibly of the gum of the host
Senegalia senegal. The 4-segmented antennal club is quite
distinct
but the colour is intermediate between the uniform dark brown of the
type and the Menozzi almost uniform black of luctuosa.
