The
photomontage of a "laevipodex" male is compiled from
http://www.antweb.org/specimen.do?name=casent0172638&project=
where it is denoted as a separate species, determined by W H
Gotwald (unpublished).
Among the distinguishing characters are - Pygidium shining with
several clear hairs; alitrunk hairs sinuous, giving a woolly or
shaggy appearance; occiput in full face view shallowly but
distinctly convex; mandibles with sparse basal long hairs.
This, however, is not laevipodex, as the type images now available (June 2014) show that to be a near exact match for the type Dorylus fimbriatus.
