With the availability of photographs of a cotype and a fresh specimen, I have removed Dorylus (D.) morio to new status as a full species.


Emery's (1895j) description of the male is at {original description}. Reported, as a subspecies of affinis, collector Lemarinel, by Forel (1909b). Forel's (1911) description of schereri is at {original description}. Santschi's (1919c) descriptions of morio and claripennis are at {original description}. Santschi's (1910g) description of "moestus", his morio of 1919c, is at {original description}.

Also Ivory Coast at Dimbroko (?Le Moult), in Wheeler (1922). Bernard (1952) reported a single male of the type form was collected at N'Zo, Mount Nimba, Guinea.
