Forel's (1913a) description is on {original description} (the previous species mentioned in the description was Acantholepis rubrovaria r pilosa. A translation and further details (Arnold, 1920a: 563) is on {original description}.

With a fresh specimen from Gabon, I have raised Lepisiota mota Santschi, from a stirps of arnoldi to full species status.
