Leptogenys zapyxis Bolton

return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location Ghana (Bolton, 1975a: 264, illustrated, worker); the holotype worker and one paratype worker were collected at Mt. Atewa (22.x.1968, C. A. Collingwood).
Other Ghana collections were from CRIG (total 11 workers, from ant ecology samples, 2.vii and 3.viii.1966, D. Leston; 26.vi.1970, from a wet-rotten log, B. Bolton) .

WORKER - large medium species, TL 8.1-9.0 mm; propodeum and metapleuron unsculptured. Inner margin of mandible extended by a convex, semi-translucent lamella.

Specimens in the CRIN collection probably were from CRI Ghana.
