The Bananas of Upland East Africa - D&E Trial at Bugene

Demonstration and evaluation trial at Bugene, Karagwe District

The site was just to the north of Bugene township, at approximately 1615 m (5300 feet) asl.

The site was markedly sloped and too small for the full size trial. Planting was on 12.4.89. Shamba owner Mr F Bikongoro.

Evaluation visit

An inspection was made on 1.12.89, 8 months after planting. The site was in good condition, except for some damage by goats; 1 or 2 = sucker numbers; S = stunted; M = missing. A further 3 g a.i. of carbofuran had been applied to C2 and FC2 but the officer responsible was not present.
