unavailable name politocciput (Pheidole Prelli For. stirps redbankensis For. var. politocciput, n. var., Santschi, 1916b: 503, major & minor) from Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls, G Arnold - see http://www.antweb.org/specimenImages.do?code=casent0913397
all forms described (see Bolton, 1995) .

The redbankensis type major is quite different to that of prelli. It is the form shown in Arnold's drawing of "P. prelli" (1920) and has a shorter head that is widest at the occiput (as drawn by Arnold, 1920) and not an elongated oval; with very different sculpture; the postpetiole is much wider, a flattened triangle from above. The minor has a similar gross morphology but again differs significantly; the mandibles are more formidable, there is a well defined nuchal collar (not on prelli), the propodeal spines are slightly large and the postpetiole is swollen in profile and from above

{Pheidole prelli} Forel's (1913a) description of redbankensis is at {original description}. Santschi's (1916b) description of politocciput is at {original description}. Arnold (1920a: 434) gave an illustrated translation of redbankensis, this is at {original description} and {original description}. Arnold (1920a: 436) gave a translation of politocciput, this is at {original description}.
