Ettershank (1966: 118-9) gave a global list of Pheidologeton species. This included - "kunensis, nom. nov. pro Pheidologeton arnoldi Santschi, 1928d: p. 198, nec Forel, 1914d, p 242 (see under Oligomyrmex). S. W. Africa". The Forel reference was to "Pheidologeton perpusillum Em. r . Arnoldi n.st." that now is Oligomyrmex perpusillus subspecies arnoldianus.
