WORKER - a very large species, TL 21.6-23.2 mm; first gastral tergite with a strongly marked transverse groove anteriorly. Dorsum of head often with a shallow, broad, transverse impression posteriorly which is interrupted medially. Funicular segments 3-5 longer than broad. Sides of head behind eyes with the spaces between punctures usually finely striate. Colour black (Bolton, 1974b: 321, not illustrated; type not examined).

Original collection by L. Conradt, location unknown, probably Mundame, Cameroun.

Wheeler (1922) listed it also from Cameroun (Mundame, Conradt; Barombi, Preuss), Togo (Conradt, Schröder), Fernando Po and Zaïre.

From Cameroun at Ntsama (B. de Miré). Also known from Kenya (Bolton, 1974). Bolton & Brown (2002) added Cameroun, Tissongo, by D. Jackson; and Uganda, Busongoro, by G.D.H. Carpenter.
