Tapinoma festae Emery

return to list {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location Greece (Tapinoma simrothi festae n., Emery, 1925d: 51, illustrated, queen and male; raised to species by Lush, 2009: 14) Rhodes - see below.

Emery's (1925d) description is at {original description}. Lush's (2009) description is at {original description}.
Separated from the T. karavaievi queen by having a proportionally slightly wider head and the second segment of the funiculus being at least as long as the third, what I think is the queen of T. karavievi has a short second segment. Lush noted T. festae from Turkey has a shallower clypeal notch and a more defined metanotal groove. It is not stated what morph(s) he was reporting.

{Tapinoma festae}The photomontage of the type queen is collated from http://www.antweb.org/specimen.do?name=casent0904018.
