Type location Kenya (Technomyrmex albipes stirps foreli Emery, var affinis, nov., Santschi, 1914b: 119, worker; raised to variety of species foreli, Santschi, 1930a: 71, worker) worker only described.

Santschi's (1914b) description of affinis is at {original description}. Santschi (1930a: 70) gave further notes and an illustration at {original description}.

Santschi (1930a) added Guinea, Kakoulima, by F. Silvestri, as foreli, apparently mixed with T. moerens.

Holotype collected from Madagascar (Technomyrmex albipes F. Sm. Foreli n. subsp., Emery, 1893: 249, worker; synonymy Santschi 1930a: 71) Tamatavé; raised to species, Santschi, 1930a: 71); all forms described (see Bolton, 1995).

Wheeler (1922) has numerous locations in Madagascar, Seychelles and southern Africa; Arnold (1915) noted - "common in moist places under stones, etc."

Santschi (1930a) added Guinea, Kakoulima, by F. Silvestri, apparently mixed with T. moerens.
