WORKER - TL 5.1-6.0 mm (Santschi, 1910c, had TL 4.5-5.0); head broader than long; dorsal surfaces densely clothed with appressed silvery glittering hairs, directed towards midline except on first gastral tergite; colour uniform red (Bolton, 1980: 245, not illustrated).

Type location Congo, Brazzaville, collected by A. Weiss, all forms collected.
