Type location Syria (Camponotus (Orthonotomyrmex) lateralis Ol. v, rebeccae n.v. Forel, 1913d: 436, major) raised to species by Radchenko (1996e: 1197, in key) Damascus, collectors U & J Sahlberg.

Forel's (1913d) description is at - . TL 6.6-6.7 mm; distinguished from Camponotus lateralis by the weak metanotal groove and the flat propodeum dorsum; entirely red with the gaster black (as lateralis).
