mm; distinguished from Camponotus
lateralis by the weak metanotal groove and the flat propodeum
dorsum; entirely red with the gaster black (as lateralis).

The

smaller but does have the distinctive flat propodeum. The narrow
profile of the petiole scale is similar to the minor workers of related
species.
