{Camponotus (Tanaemyrmex) thoracicus} Egypt records - Karavaiev (1911:10) as thoracicus var xerxes, major and minor workers from Cairo, he referred to Santschi (1908); as C. maculatus ssp thoracicus var cypriacus in Wheeler & Mann (1916) from Wadi Gharandel, Sinai Peninsula; as C. maculatus ssp thoracicus var sanctoides in Wheeler & Mann (1916) from Wadi Feran & Mt Sinai, Sinai Peninsula; as C. maculatus ssp thoracicus var mortis in Wheeler & Mann (1916) from Wadi Feran & Mt Sinai, Sinai Peninsula; Santschi (1938a) delta and herodes; Donisthorpe (1942a) recorded many specimens from Siwa Osais, collected by J Omer-Cooper; July_August 1935; modern record in Mohamed et al (2001, illustrated).
