return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location Zaïre (Calyptomyrmex (Dicroaspis) cryptocerus var. laevidens Santschi, 1919h: 88, worker; raised to species by Bolton, 1981a: 59, illustrated) collected at Yambuya by Bequaert, 26.xi.1913
worker only known.(see Bolton, 1981a and 1995) .

{Discothyrea laevidens}Santschi's (1919h) very brief description is at {original description}. Bolton's modern description (1981) is at {original description}

WORKER - TL 2.5-2.61, HL 0.72, HW 0.62-0.64, SL 0.44-0.46, PW 0.46-0.48.
Generally similar to cryptocera but smaller and more heavily sculptured; form of sculpturation similar however and Bolton (1981a) suggested that there might actually be only one species involved.

Other specimens seen by Bolton were from Gabon, Plateau d'Ipassa; and Zaïre, Yangambi.
