Dorylus (Anomma) zumpti Santschi - new status

return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type locality Cameroun (D. (A.) funereus Em. v. zumpti n.v., Santschi, 1937b: 96, male only, illustrated head) collected on Mt. Cameroun, by Dr. F. Zumpt, xi.1935; male only known .

{Dorylus funereus zumpti}Santschi's (1937b) description is at {original description}. Emery (1899e: 461) emphasised that these brown winged males had an exceptional convexity to the anterior of the face, very different to the two smoky winged species that he had seen - nigricans, in two forms - from Sierra Leone, the type location, and Cameroun-Congo; the latter he thought might be of wilverthi as it was found with workers of that species.

{Dorylus zumpti type male The photomontage of the type male is collated from http://www.antweb.org/specimen.do?name=casent0911288.
