{unavailable due to copyright}WORKER - diagnosis as in key; TL 3.6-4.3 mm, median portion of clypeus with anterior margin indented medially to a variable degree; colour medium to dark brown (in Bolton, 1987: 334, illustrated head and alitrunk profile).

Widely distributed across savannah Africa and very conspicuous, forms populous nests in soil. Wheeler (1922) noted its scavenging activities and how its nests were craters about 5 cm high about stalks of grasses in dry grassy savannah.

From West Africa, Bolton (1987) saw specimens from Ghana (Upper Region at Tumu, Navrongo , Bolgatanga, all by P.M. Room); and, Dawhenya and Amfeda, by C.A. Collingwood) and Ivory Coast (Bouaké, by E. Diemé).
