Weakly
concave anterior margin of clypeus; scapes sinuous; frontal carinae
long and weakly sinous, with about 16 fine longitudinal striae
between the carinae, spaces between finely spiculate; propodeal spines
long, very weakly downturned, about as long as the propodeal dorsum;
petiole and postpetiole with quite strong lateral rugae but dorsally
only very weakly sculptured. Base of scape with small lateral spine and
longitudinal flange
Reminiscent of M.
collingwoodi, That also has long scapes (SI 112) and a long head
(CI 86); scapes straight.
This may be a debateable identification as Radchenko
& Elmes (2010: 138 ff) gave the
distribution as "Europe (absent from British Isles and Iberian
Peninsula). Caucasus. All old records of the species east of Ural Mts.
belong to M. gallienii". Myrmica gallienii, however, is
bigger, TL 4.7-4.8, has HW
1.04 mm and SI 85.
