Type location Cameroun (Smithistruma arahana n. sp., Bolton, 1983: 300, worker, not illustrated), collected near Yaoundé by G. Terron; holotype worker and one paratype worker, apparently from separate samples .

WORKER - TL 2.5-2.6 mm; with extensive spongiform tissue behind the petiole node, thicker than the length of the node; colour dull brownish-yellow to light brown .
