Type location Ivory Coast (Smithistruma impidora sp. n., Bolton, 1983: 294, illustrated, full-face view, worker), collected at Abidjan, Banco National Park, in a dead trunk, in primary forest, by I. Löbl, 3.iii.1977); holotype worker and 2 paratype workers - see below .

WORKER - TL 2.1-2.2 mm; flattened head and lacking specialised pilosity, other than a transverse band of suborbicular hairs between the vertex and occipital margin; colour uniform light brown.
