1878 - born 29 November, Talywain, Trevethin (small town 1 mile NW of Pontypool, South Wales) .
Walter, father - Isaac Tudgay, mother - Rachel Tudgay formerly Jones, occupation coal miner 1.
1881 British census - age 2 Trevethin, Monmouthshire 2.
1900 census - born in PA 1878, parents immigrated 1881, age 21 3.
1910 census - born Wales, immigrated 1882 age 31, single, Hanover St 4.
1916 - Certified as Assistant Mine Foreman, by Department of Mines, Commonwealth of PA, 1 Feb 1916. It states that he had been a miner for 7 years and man-at-general work for 10 years 5.
1920 census - born Wales age 41, immigrated 1881, naturalized 1890 6.
1930 - Delegate to Welsh Assoc Meeting 1930, lived 397 Hanover St. Warrior Run. Religion - Welsh Baptist Fire-boss at the caldera at Warrior Run
According to Eva Seaman (niece, dau. of Thomas Tudgay) in a letter dated 1986, 'Walt was a fireboss, that is they went in at 2 or 3 in the AM to check for methane gas at No. 20 tunnel of the Glenalden Coal Co. of Scranton.' 7.
1932 - Died Cancer of pancreas @ Nanticoke State Hosp. 25 Nov 1932, buried Slocum cem; employed as foreman in mines 8.
Obit: Walter Tudgay, 53, of 397 Hanover Street, Warrior Run, died yesterday morning at 11:50 in Nanticoke State Hospital. Mr. Tudgay was a lifelong and prominent resident of Warrior Run. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist church and was a member of Lodge 899, I.O.O.F. of Askam and Shalimar Sanctorum of this city. He leaves his wife and the following children: Joseph, Ruth, Earl, Walter, Florence, Edith and Alan, all of Warrior Run; two brothers and a sister, Joseph W.., Edwin J., and Nellie, all of Warrior Run. Funeral services will be held at the home on Monday afternoon 9.

death cert - died in Danville State Hospital, Mahoning Twp, Montour Co (had been there over 1 year). Usual residence Wapwallopen, RD #1, Luzerne Co., PA. died of arterioschlerotic cardiovascular disease 11.
Obit - Mrs. Grace Tudgay, 69, of Slocum, died last night in Danville Hospital. The former Grace Meyers of Wanamie, she resided in Slocum for 25 years. Her husband Walter, died 26 years ago. Mrs. Tudgay was the daughter of the late Nelson Myers and Eliza Seddon Myers. Surviving are these children: Joseph, Philadelphia; Mrs. Edwin DeLong and Allen, Rockville, Md; Earl, Bridgeport, Conn; Mrs. Robert Lynn, Slocum; and Mrs. Harold Price, Capitol Heights, Md; sisters: Mrs George Sliker, North Plainfield, NJ; Mrs Mary Thomas, Mechanicsburg; and Mrs Alvin Fair, Conyngham; also 15 grandchildren. Funeral will be held Thursday at 2 pm from the Cragle Funeral Home, Hobbie, with Rev. A Ward Campbell officiating. Interment in Slocum Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 7 to 9. 12

A "My Family People Finder" search (01 Sep 2003) came up with Jeffrey D Tudgay, age 43, & M M Tudgay, age 44, both of South Carolina; also Thomas J Tudgay (no age) of South Carolina and/or Thomas J Tudgay, age 48, with Megin M Tudgay, age 46, of North Carolina. However, the 1994 phone book search at Ancestry.com has Thomas J Tudgay of Southbury, Connecticut, and Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, and Jeffrey D Tudgay of Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania.

Now, July 2014, Wendy Tudgay, has e-mailed and enabled me to make a few additions and corrections. Wendy married Joseph Thayne in 1984 and lives in Hanover Township, PA. They had one daughter, Megan Elizabeth, married to Michael Kelly. Megan and Michael have two children Aiden Wyndham Kelly, aged 4, and Laura Rose, aged 1.

A search for Tudgay in the Wilkes Barre Times archives gave - Nov. 9, 2001 - Samuel P. Charles, of Tunkhannock, died Friday at the Carpenter Care Center, Tunkhannock. Born Jan. 3, 1916 in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Simon and Celia (Ferris) Charley (Charles). He was a partner of Charles Brother's Supermarket, Tunkhannock, from 1947 until retiring in 1978. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He served on the Board of Directors of the Wyoming Valley Economy Stores for 20 years and was president of the... [the summary does not include the name Tudgay but I presume he was a brother of Martha].

Born Aug. 1, 1962, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of S. Jane (Tudgay) Krause of Warrior Run and the late Raymond Krause. Surviving in addition to her mother are her daughter, Jessica, Shenandoah; brother, Judson Krause, Warrior Run; and her fiance, Joseph Cooney, Shenandoah. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen's.

She graduated from the former Luzerne High School in 1947.Prior to her retirement in 1991, she was employed by R.C.A., Mountaintop. She lived in Luzerne for many years before moving to Kingston in 1960. She was a member of the Bennett Presbyterian Church. [I cannot link this Tudgay to any of the above, but assume that Georgina was born ca 1900-1908 and was an unrecorded offspring or a former wife of a Tudgay]
